2nd Year | 4th Semester

Heyyy! 🙋‍♀️ You’re reading this on Thursday, which is day 2 of my 4th semester of college, which means I am almost 1/2 way through my college degree! 😁 However, I am writing this on Tuesday evening, the last day of my Christmas vacation, as I contemplate an entire new semester. I am not at all ready to go back, (who is? haha), but I am fairly excited for the classes I’ll be taking and I hope that per usual the spring semester will be less stressful than the fall (any one else feel that?).

I am a Business Management major and am considering doing a dual minor in International Business & Spanish. I am taking 19 credits this semester and am continuing my great work-study job with 12 hrs/week. Sounds like a lot, I know. Each semester I tell myself I will take it easier, and then the next semester I go ahead and load myself up again… I guess it’s meant to be. 😜

I hadn’t been able to register in time for a couple business classes, so I was taking other ones instead. But I was super lucky and by God’s grace I was able to get into 3 business classes that I really needed! I will be taking:

  • Intro to business information systems
  • Professional business communications
  • Management & organization (online!)
  • Managerial accounting
  • Honors seminar (text & critics) 2 (for my honors program reqs)
  • Early child physcology & development (more for fun cause I like education)

My schedule is really packed, at school from 9 to 5 between work and classes, and then homework at night, but I am gonna try and fit in a couple hours at the gym and some social life…maybe…what do you think? And maybe play my cello once in a while…I wonder if it’ll be possible. 🙃

So…that’s kinda the update. I am doing good. Can’t believe it’s already 2019. I am 19 years old, which feels crazy. I have a great job. Am almost 1/2 way through my bachelors. I am so grateful for my wonderful family and for my friends (old & new!!).

Also, can we just pray for snow please? Cause this is Montana and it’s the middle of January and it’s suppposed to be cold and snowy so I can ski (yet another thing in my totally-not-busy schedule…) and actually feel like it’s winter. I mean, if it’s not gonna snow we might as well have summer. I would like that better. ☺️

In conclusion, break was great but far too short; I spent it sleeping, eating, watching TV, taking long naps, playing with my sibs, cooking occasionally and sleeping some more. Now I have to go back and sacrifice sleep for textbooks, food for stress, hobbies for papers, and friends for professors. Wish me luck. “It’ll be fine…we’ll get through this…you gotta trust me…I promise….” (If you get the reference comment down below…bffs). 🤔

I’m gonna go now and pack my backpack, eat dinner and then go to sleep cause I’m already tired just thinking of the next 3 months. See you next week (hopefully)! ❤️

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hi everyone! Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you all are enjoying your day and time off. I am sooo happy to be off from school for a bit…even relaxed enough to forgive my profs for assigning homework due Monday…(sort of ready to forgive…not really). ;D

I am grateful for so many things this year, but some of them are: my wonderful family, my friends (old and new!), stats classmates and our ridiculous laughing sessions (long story), ski season approaching, being able to switch majors (new post coming soon!), a great job, our President, that I’ll be 19 soon (like what the heck!??!), God’s presence and guiding hand in my life, you guys, and so many more things!!! What are you grateful for this year?

I will have a post up on Thurs with some updates for y’all cause quite a bit has gone on. Good news is only two more weeks of school and finals and then I’m done for the semester. Also my birthday is coming up. So lots of stuff. Love you guys and I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

P.S. Are you guys setting up Christmas trees yet? And listening to Christmas music yet?!?! (I have been listening for a couple weeks already…yes, I have lost my sanity lol)

How Martial Arts Are Helping Me

Hey guys! How’s your week going so far? It’s almost half way through the semester, and I am doing pretty good! I wanted to share with you guys how martial arts have been helping me balance out my life. Don’t forget to subscribe if you want to get weekly posts! 🙂

If you didn’t already know, I am taking an Aikido class this semester, at my universities’ gym. Aikido is a Japanese martial art, based on the Samurai warriors and their sword-fighting techniques. The art was adapted into more modern techniques and practical applications, however the basic ideas, culture and etiquette remains the same. The man who took it into his life to bring back and adapt Aikido in the 20th century was Morihei Ueshiba O Sensei (great teacher). He was very passionate about this and studied for a very long time in Japanese.

The word Aikido means the following: ‘ai’-the balance, in harmony with; ‘ki’-spirit or life; ‘do’-the way or path. So Aikido roughly means the way of being in balance with life.

What’s really interesting is that this is so true. Originally I though that a martial art was something you practice, fight or whatever. But it really does change you and how you see life but how you act. So, here’s how I changed and why I love Aikido and why I would encourage you to try one!

Hi

So guess what? Basically I forgot to write a post for today. So that kinda sucks. I was really busy last week through yesterday and I think the next few days will be slightly better (hopefully). Which means I will hopefully be able to write some good posts this week for next week!

So for now is just a little school/life update I guess. Hope you’re interested! 😉

My classes are all good, I actually really like Accounting and Economics, although Econ can be fairly overwhelming sometimes. I am taking Honors Econ and it is macro, micro and business Econ in one class (4 credits), so it’s quite a bit. But I still like it. Also I don’t know if I mentioned which classes I was taking this semester, but I am taking 18 credits: accounting 201, honors economics, statistics, nutrition (uggh!), honors texts& critics and aikido.

I am really loving Aikido by the way! It’s a Japanese martial art and it’s super fun! I am not a very physical person (or aggressive) so this is really helping me balance out as well as giving me way more confidence in general. It’s really cool to learn all these moves and etiquette. So shout out to Dad for giving me the nudge into it! 🙂

I have been going to the gym a few times a week too. It feels really good to get moving, work out or swim. Even if I’m mentally tired it keeps me going to do something physical.

Work has been going really well too. I got a part-time work study job at the Army ROTC office on campus. I really like it, it’s just admin stuff but I like being around the military and the people are super friendly and happy. Plus it’s on campus so I can work it around my schedule AND I get to do homework if I’m not busy. So basically all around A-plus!

Other than that I’ve been trying to rest as much as I can. Hopefully this coming week is less busy. I had an exam yesterday and a couple papers due last week, but I think it’s two weeks before anything else other than homework comes my way! (then it’ll all hit me with a bang!) I’ve been fairly stressed out with everything, just trying to balance the homework and try to still get half a weekend in and enjoy the beautiful weather. Sometimes you feel like it’s either or and you can’t balance everything. I just try and then it kinda all works out OK.

Fall is about here, it’s cooler and the trees are turning. I am both happy and sad…I love the summer, but I love fall and the colors, smells, pumpkin, and snow…so yeah, I am happy.

I hope y’all are doing great! I wanted to share one thing I think is important during school, especially college: Aim for A’s, do your best, and what you get will be just fine. Grades are important, and I love to get A’s. But what’s important is that you learn and do your best and then the letter is less important!

Comment down below how you’re doing, and also let me know if you have any suggestions of things you’d like me to write about! Happy to oblige you! Love you guys! Don’t forget to SMILE! 😀 ❤              –Myriam

300 Followers | 4 Year Anniversary | Why I Blog

Hello everyone! I have been thinking lately of how much fun I have been having writing blog posts and connecting with other bloggers and growing my little blog family. It’s pretty cool to think that 300 people actually care about what I write. It’s both a small and big number at the same time. Small cause growth is always on the horizon, big because it’s like a quarter of my town. 😛

Anyway, it got me started about why I blog. So, I wanted to tell my wonderful three hundred followers and anyone else who happens to read this post, that I appreciate you guys so much and why I blog.

Starting to Blog:

Back in 2014 I started this blog for school. I started an online homeschool curriculum for high school and all the students had blogs on which they would post the weekly essays for the various subjects. It was a really great way for students to help each other out, parents to read essays, and a unique way of gaining confidence in writing (see here for how it helped me).

After 3 years of high school and essay posting (visit my menu and explore my earlier days of essay writing, some of which is memorable, most of which I would like to forget) I graduated high school and started college. That summer I had vague thoughts on how I wanted to blog through college, but once college actually started the stress overwhelmed me and the blog was lost under the mounds of homework.

Then, second semester around, I kinda re-vamped it.

  1. I had learned far better how to manage school, stress, and life (probably the most valuable skill learned in college lol)
  2. I wanted to monetize the blog and make money
  3. I remembered how much I had enjoyed writing posts on baroque music
