Cold Weather & Spring Break

The last few weeks have been insanely cold! Some mornings it was -30F! And it wouldn’t warm up to more than -15 or -10. We also got dumped with lots of snow…like 3 or 4 feet. Finally felt like winter, and it wasn’t all that bad except for the driving part. This last week though, as if to make amends, it’s become much warmer and it’s regularly in the 30’s(F) during the day. Nice and warm lol. Feels like spring is coming, the snow is melting a bit, and I really hope that it doesn’t dump any more, because I want spring badly!

It’s finally spring break too!! This week (the 18th) we have off and I am so happy! Yesterday, I had an exam and then did the homework that was due this weekend, and other than that I’m done. Next weekend I’ll take care of stuff that I have due after break. I don’t think I’ve ever appreciated a break so much as I am now. I don’t really have plans, just chilling, lots of skiing, watching TV (24 is my fav series!), playing with my siblings…as long as I don’t have to do homework I am a happy girl! 🙂

I also want to go shopping and buy some spring clothes (in the hopes of making spring come faster), I love the pale pastel spring colors everyone’s selling now! They make me happy and I love seeing them in my closet haha. I might also go rock climbing or something with friends, maybe go see a movie…I just want to do regular stuff I never have time for! When are your guy’s breaks (if any) and do you have plans?

After this break, we have about 6 more weeks of school, including finals. Then I will be half way through my degree, and that’s crazy, and very motivating! By far my hardest class is accounting, but other than that my classes aren’t that difficult, just a lot of work; very time consuming. I’ve been giving quite a few presentations in my classes, and I have to say I love it. I really like talking and presenting is a great way to do it! I’m weird like that! :p

Lately I have been looking back at pictures and stuff and I really want to make it a goal this year to take lots of pictures. Even if they are not good quality. I am terrible at remembering to take pictures, even though I love having them as memories. I am going to try really hard to take pictures though, because I don’t want to miss out on all these memories! I know in 10 years I will be glad I did (hopefully). Maybe some of them can be posted on here, and I will definitely try to keep you guys updated….

I am not going to promise to post here anymore, because I obviously have failed miserably. It has just been insanely busy and if I do have time without homework, I just want to sleep. As bad as that sounds it’s true. I do want to continue blogging a lot more during the summer though, and hopefully have enough momentum then to continue into the fall.

I have to look for a summer job soon as well, because my part time job is only during the semester. I am thinking of instead of looking for an office job of some sort, I might look into working for a wedding planner, or event planner. The summer season is super busy here in that industry, so I think it would be a good time to look. I also love that kind of job and it will be nice to get some experience before potentially deciding to do it more often after school or not.

I hope you all are doing great! Thanks for following along still! ❤ Have a wonderful day! 🙂

College Tips: Apps I Use

Hey guys! How are you? ❤ Today I wanted to share with you guys what apps* and programs I use for college, whether it be for planning, scheduling, keeping track of homework, writing assignments, music, etc…. I hope you guys like this! Comment down below if you use any of these, or which ones you do use!

Planning/Scheduling + Homework:

*quick note: I use my physical bullet journal/planner for everything. However I also like to have stuff on my laptop and phone, so this is what I use in addition to my main paper planner.

#1: myHomework– this is an app I found for my laptop. I got it because it was free and simple to use. It keeps track of your schedule as well as homework/assignment due dates. It’s just an easy way for me to input stuff and transfer to my planner or vis versa, and I like to refer to it when I am actually doing the homework on my laptop. It also syncs to the app on your phone, which is great.

#2: iCal– this is the standard Mac calendar app. I put in my daily schedule, work and exams, and other so that I have a general overview that’s far less detailed than my bullet journal or homework list.

Homework:

#1: My university has an online program that they use to give assignments, some quizzes, syllabuses, grades, etc…and it comes with an app for your phone, which I use a lot. If your college has a program like this I would check and see if there’s an app because it’s really handy!

#2: I use Microsoft Word for most of my papers. Mac comes with their own program but I prefer Word.

#3: Evernote– this is more for notes, but since I hand write my notes I like to use this for exam studying where I can transfer some of my handwritten notes to Evernote and then make study guides or whatever. You can also sync the apps between devices.

#4: Google drive is honestly a life saver when it comes to group projects, and becoming familiar with Docs and Slides is a great idea if you are not already.

#5: I have used Prezi to do some class presentations, but I think either PowerPoint or Google Slides are much easier to use.

Music & More:

#1: I use both Spotify and Google Play Music (and YouTube of course!). Spotify is on my laptop only cause I don’t want to pay premium for my phone, and I use Google Music on my phone. You can upload your own songs as well as stream radio with them (similar to Spotify).

#2: Quizlet is a program that I use occasionally. Depends on the subject but it can be great to create flashcards and study for exams.

#3: Khan Academy is great for quick videos on subjects you don’t understand. I have found it especially helpful with math. (of course Youtube works just as well)

#4: Occasionally I refer to CliffNotes for book synopsis’. Often they don’t cover exactly what I need for my assignment but they can help get you to the important pages, characters, plot, etc….

What do you all use? Let me know down below, I love to hear it! ❤

*just so you guys know I have a Mac laptop and a Samsung phone, so the apps that sync are apps that are available for both OS and Android systems. 🙂

300 Followers | 4 Year Anniversary | Why I Blog

Hello everyone! I have been thinking lately of how much fun I have been having writing blog posts and connecting with other bloggers and growing my little blog family. It’s pretty cool to think that 300 people actually care about what I write. It’s both a small and big number at the same time. Small cause growth is always on the horizon, big because it’s like a quarter of my town. 😛

Anyway, it got me started about why I blog. So, I wanted to tell my wonderful three hundred followers and anyone else who happens to read this post, that I appreciate you guys so much and why I blog.

Starting to Blog:

Back in 2014 I started this blog for school. I started an online homeschool curriculum for high school and all the students had blogs on which they would post the weekly essays for the various subjects. It was a really great way for students to help each other out, parents to read essays, and a unique way of gaining confidence in writing (see here for how it helped me).

After 3 years of high school and essay posting (visit my menu and explore my earlier days of essay writing, some of which is memorable, most of which I would like to forget) I graduated high school and started college. That summer I had vague thoughts on how I wanted to blog through college, but once college actually started the stress overwhelmed me and the blog was lost under the mounds of homework.

Then, second semester around, I kinda re-vamped it.

  1. I had learned far better how to manage school, stress, and life (probably the most valuable skill learned in college lol)
  2. I wanted to monetize the blog and make money
  3. I remembered how much I had enjoyed writing posts on baroque music

Well, I survived my wisdom teeth surgery! Yay! I am doing a lot better today, less swollen and utterly bored and tired of being in bed, watching movies and eating mashed potatoes. I am so glad I got this done before college starts (in one week ahhh!), because I would’ve been completely stressed had I had to go through this thinking about assignments and missed notes….Thanks for all the tips to make me more comfortable after my surgery. 🙂 Also, yes, I was a little loopy afterwards and it was hilarious! What I remember and what my mom tells me doesn’t fail to make me laugh! I am happy to say, none of it was embarrassing, I thought everyone was very “nice”, I cried when my mom didn’t use her GPS to get home, cried several times because I thought I was ugly with ice packs and swollen/numb face, said that I felt like an old lady when they gave me oxygen before the surgery, my sister now knows how very much I hate avocados, I kept telling my mom I should drive home, and I am very glad I don’t have to be loopy again. Were you loopy when you got your wisdom teeth removed?

Thanks for reading! Keep smiling! 😀 ❤
