300 Followers | 4 Year Anniversary | Why I Blog

Hello everyone! I have been thinking lately of how much fun I have been having writing blog posts and connecting with other bloggers and growing my little blog family. It’s pretty cool to think that 300 people actually care about what I write. It’s both a small and big number at the same time. Small cause growth is always on the horizon, big because it’s like a quarter of my town. 😛

Anyway, it got me started about why I blog. So, I wanted to tell my wonderful three hundred followers and anyone else who happens to read this post, that I appreciate you guys so much and why I blog.

Starting to Blog:

Back in 2014 I started this blog for school. I started an online homeschool curriculum for high school and all the students had blogs on which they would post the weekly essays for the various subjects. It was a really great way for students to help each other out, parents to read essays, and a unique way of gaining confidence in writing (see here for how it helped me).

After 3 years of high school and essay posting (visit my menu and explore my earlier days of essay writing, some of which is memorable, most of which I would like to forget) I graduated high school and started college. That summer I had vague thoughts on how I wanted to blog through college, but once college actually started the stress overwhelmed me and the blog was lost under the mounds of homework.

Then, second semester around, I kinda re-vamped it.

  1. I had learned far better how to manage school, stress, and life (probably the most valuable skill learned in college lol)
  2. I wanted to monetize the blog and make money
  3. I remembered how much I had enjoyed writing posts on baroque music

New Follower Q&A: Ask me anything! + Wisdom Teeth :/

Hello everyone! I’ve gotten a lot of new followers lately, which is so awesome, thanks so much! ❤ I figured that you might have questions to ask me or would like to get to know me better, so I want to do a Q&A!

Leave a comment asking me anything! The more the merrier! Also, I would love post ideas that I can plan for, because school starts in a couple weeks and then I need them planned! 🙂

I can’t wait to read your comments–I will be answering them as soon as possible between now and Wednesday. I have my wisdom teeth surgery on Wednesday so I will be out of commission for a bit! (Wish me luck, I am a little nervous. Also if you’ve had the surgery, any tips?)

Ask away! ❤

3 Years….

Hello everyone! So, sorry for the neglect, but I went on vacation, and the prep, actual vacation, and after-math of getting re-adjusted have prevented my posting. 🙂 But, I am preparing a post with pictures from my vacation and stuff, so hopefully I’ll have that up soon, but you never know.

However, I have a special announcement. A few months ago I realized that I’d had my blog for almost three years, which is pretty exciting, being that I’ve only neglected it about one year out of those three. And I was planning an eloquent post, you know, all shmancy fancy to celebrate the 3rd anniversary of my blog. But! I’m afraid I forgot. Yes, I’ve had a lot going on and although I write down repeatedly in my agenda to post on my blog, in reality, the blog was the furthest thing in my mind and #100 on my to-do list.

So……..if you would all give WordPress a great big three cheers because if it hadn’t been for their notification that yes, I had actually had my blog for three years, I would have passed by this monumental landmark! So, thank you WP! You’re my hero!

Anyway, you basically got the point by now: today (it’s almost over by now, but….), August 8th, is the day that I started this blog three years ago. Makes me so sentimental….

Enough nonsense, I feel like I probably shouldn’t post this because I am writing with a hint of sarcasm, but whatever! I’m tired cause it’s bed-time and hopefully tomorrow I can start working on a vacation post, and hopefully a post on what I’ve been doing (other than lying on the beach….oops! vacation spoiler!), because in a few weeks I’m going to college!!!! How does time sneak up so fast? Or, rather, pass by so fast?

Talk to you all soon!

Myriam ❤ 😀

What’s been going on……

Hello everybody! It’s been ages since I last posted! I’ve been so busy, but now I’m back and I wanted to tell you all what had been going on. But first, how are you all doing? Are you looking forward to summer? I am. 🙂

So as most of you probably knew, I was homeschooled my entire life, including through high school. This makes high-school graduation and getting into college a bit different. First of all, I decided upon the following as my course of study in college and university.

-Two years at community college for an A.A.S. in Interior Design.

-Then transfer to university (to which community college is an extension) and finish two more years to get a B.S. in Business Managament.

After talking with a couple of people at the university, this option was presented: a four year program where you can earn two degrees. One major plus in the program is that because I am earning a technical degree (I.D.) I don’t need to take any of the standard “core” university classes, such as sociology and phycology. Instead of doing the typical four year route, in which you spend two years basically studying “core” classes, I get to spend them studying something I love, and something that gives me a skill to use to fund the rest of my higher education and after. I’m really excited to start it!

Usually getting into college requires an SAT or ACT, but because I am entering into community college first I only needed to take my GED, or HiSET–the high school equivalency test. Which brings me to the point of why I wasn’t posting. I was studying!

I am really happy to say that the studying payed off and I passed all five of my HiSET tests with amazing scores! The five tests were writing, reading, math, science, and social studies. Out of all of them writing was my weakest, but still a great score.

I graduated from high school on Friday May 12th. And, on the same day, passed my driving test and got my driver’s license. So, I’m done. It all happened at once, but now it’s also all finished at the same time.

Now that I’m finished with school, I want to work over the summer and relax before college starts this fall. Hopefully I’ll be able to write on this blog a lot more. I really want to. And now that I’m done with school, this blog will be more about my hobbies, and what I’m doing. I also want to write about some things I’ve learned about applying for college, scholarships and that kind of stuff; studying tips; my opinions on things.

I’d like to post at least once a week, I think I can do it!

Thanks for reading, and if you haven’t already, please follow me!

Have a great rest of your day!

Myriam
